Play-off talk no distraction

Morecambe boss Jim Bentley insists he is taking every game as it comes and won’t be distracted by talk of a late run at the League 2 play-offs.

Four wins in five games has seen the Shrimps move to within six points off the top seven and the games against Bristol Rovers at the Globe Arena on Saturday and Burton Albion next Tuesday could be vital in deciding where Bentley’s side finish the campaign.

The Shrimps boss is hopeful of another win – and a big crowd – at the Globe this Saturday for the visit of John Ward’s resurgent Rovers following the 1-0 win at top of the table Port Vale at the weekend.

He said: “Saturday’s win was a fantastic one and I was proud of the lads for their effort and determination.

“They put their bodies on the line to get the three points and maintain our good run of form.

“I was asked at the weekend about did I think we could make the play-offs but I am not even looking at that.

“I just want us to take every game as it comes and we will see where that puts us.

“Four wins in five is a great return and I hope the fans come out in numbers to support us this weekend in what is a game between the league’s top two in-form sides.

“Both teams are playing well and will be going all out for the win and I think it is one the fans will really enjoy.”

Despite the recent successes Bentley said he was still looking to add to his squad.

He said: “I am still looking and still talking and there are a few possibilities for us but we don’t have to rush into anything.”

The Shrimps will be without Andy Wright on Saturday as he will be suspended for one game after his sending off against Port Vale at the weekend.

Andy Fleming and Robbie Threlfall should both be back in contention however for a place in the starting line-up.
