MORECAMBE FC have signed two of their brightest young prospects.

Left back James Short, 18, and central defender Chris Doyle, 17, signed their first professional contracts to be part of Jim Bentley’s squad for the forthcoming season.

And the Morecambe boss said the pair have earned their deals after impressing in the reserves.

He said: “Both lads have been regulars in the reserves and impressed myself and Stewart Drummond with their performances and their attitudes and I am delighted to be able to give them a chance.

“They are both players who I think have a good future ahead of them and I hope they go on to be first-team regulars here for a long time to come.”
