Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says he hopes his side will be the one grabbing the Sunday morning FA Cup headlines after their second round clash with Coventry City on Saturday.

The Shrimps are looking to make it into the third round of the competition for only the fourth time in their history.

Bentley said: “The FA Cup is a great competition and this is a good draw for us and for the supporters.

“There is a real buzz around the place after Saturday’s win and we can go into this game with confidence.

“Coventry have picked up a couple of decent results recently but we showed against Blackpool (in the Capital One Cup) that we can give anyone a game when we are at our best and that is what we aim to do on Saturday.

“It is going to be a tough game for us but there is always a shock and there is no reason why we can’t be the ones providing that shock.

“It would be fantastic to get into the third round when the big boys enter the competition.

“There is nothing like the FA Cup in my opinion and it is the best cup competition in the world by a mile.

“I really do hope the fans enjoy the occasion. It’s been a while since we have had a good run in the cup and I know it’s something the fans always hope for and I hope they turn out in good numbers on Saturday.”

Bentley will be without on-loan defender Wigan Jordan Mustoe due to the terms of his loan and it looks unlikely Richard Brodie will be given permission to play by his parent club Crawley.

Andy Fleming missed Saturday’s game against AFC Wimbledon with flu but it is hoped he will be fit enough for the weekend.

Coventry are set to include former Shrimps star Carl Baker in their line-up with Bentley admitting he is looking forward to going up against his former team mate.

He said: “As soon as the draw was made I got a text from Carl passing his best wishes to us for the replay.

“It will be good to see him and I am sure he is looking forward to the game as well.

“He will be one of Coventry’s biggest threats for sure and we will have to watch him closely.”
