Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says he is starting to build his squad for next season after handing Ryan Williams a one-year contract.

Williams joins Jack Redshaw as an exciting young player signed up with Bentley hoping to secure deals for more in the next few weeks.

He said: “I have always thought managers should look to get deals sorted out as early as possible for their players and that is what I want to do.

“I am delighted that Ryan has agreed to join and he will be a really good addition to the squad.

“He has had a great start since finally getting to sign for us and is an exciting young player who I feel has a great future. Jack is very similar but we have to remember that both are still young and we don’t want to put too much pressure on them and the other young players we have in the squad.

“We need to get a good balance between youth and experience and that is the aim.

“The last few weeks have shown that we have a pretty decent squad and I don’t think we are far away.

“I would like a couple more players to add some strength but every manager says that.”

*John Hartson will be the special guest at the Shrimps’ next Sportsman’s Evening on Friday, April 19.

Tickets for the evening will cost £35 each or £320 for a table of 10. The club will be donating 10 per cent of all ticket monies to the Fans Club of Morecambe.
