Young Morecambe defender Will Bell has signed a one-year deal with the Shrimps and been immediately loaned out for the season.
The centre half will spend the 2014-2015 campaign with Welsh Premier League side Bala Town.
The 19-year-old from Liverpool represented The Lakesiders during pre-season and will play alongside former Shrimp Dave Artell.
Boss Jim Bentley explained the arrangement.
He said: “Will showed good progression last year but it was an awkward one with regards to our budget.
“He came in during pre-season and impressed and he’s been playing down at Bala Town and I’ve been speaking to Dave Artell who he’s playing alongside.
“We just feel that if we can keep hold of him for another 12 months and he continues that progression then he’s still our player.
“Once he’s gone from the system it’s hard to get him back.
“Thankfully we’ve agreed to sign him for another year but the only way we could do it is if he went out on loan and got 35 or 40 games under his belt.
“I think it’s a good move for all parties.”
Bell, a former Shrimps youth team captain, spent time on loan at Kendal Town last season before his original one-year deal expired in the summer.
