Morecambe boss Jim Bentley slammed his team’s performance despite victory over AFC Wimbledon at the Globe Arena on Saturday.
Kevin Ellison’s hat-trick handed the Shrimps a 3-1 win over the Dons but Bentley labelled his side’s performance “absolutely shocking”.
“I’ve never felt so down watching the team when we’re winning,” he said.
“Everything we worked on and all aspects of our play were poor.
“I think there’s three positives that have come out of today.
“Kevin Ellison’s performance and his goals and the way he went about his job. I don’t think I’m being too harsh on the other lads when I say he single-handedly carried the team.
“The three points is obviously a positive and I think the crowd were good again and really got behind the team.
“And that’s all I take from it because I think the performance was absolutely shocking.
“But we can’t always play well and we’ll take the three points all day.”
