Morecambe FC have appointed a new club secretary.

David Chandler will take over the reins from Neil Marsdin, who is retiring from the position in September after nearly 20 years in the role.

David has been ground safety administrator at the Globe Arena for the past year.

He will work alongside Neil as assistant secretary for a short time before officially taking over in September.

He said: “Taking the reins from Neil Marsdin, who has been such a fantastic servant to the club, is a terrific honour.

“I am fortunate to have Neil’s support and expertise to guide me as I prepare for next season.

“I look forward to adding my skills to the first-class team behind the scenes at Globe Arena, who all work hard in support of this great club.”

Shrimps director Rod Taylor said: “We are looking forward to working with David.

“He has had a lot of valuable experience and a wide range of areas and we are sure he will be a valuable member of the management and administrative team.

“Neil and David have been working together for a couple of months now and Neil’s mentoring and on-going support in the future is valuable to both David and the football club.

“The club would like to thank Neil Marsdin for his magnificent commitment over the past two decades and his tireless endeavours behind the scenes.”
