Lancaster City completed an unbeaten pre-season campaign with a goalless draw against a young Blackburn Rovers side on Friday night.

The Dolly Blues more than matched the best of Rovers’ under 21 players as they made it five wins and three draws ahead of the Evo-Stik First Division North kick off on August 17.

In a game of few chances, Aaron Taylor came closest for the Dolly Blues on the hour mark, Rovers ‘keeper David Raya saving well with his legs after the ball had dropped to the former Morecambe man just inside the area.

City look composed on the ball from back to front, with some particularly nice football in the final third and will go into the season opener against Cammell Laird full of confidence.

The only downside for head coach Darren Peacock was a serious looking injury to right back Rob Henry, but the former Blackburn defender will have been impressed with his improving side in what he saw as their sternest pre-season test.
