Two local footballers helped Lancashire to victory in a major FA competition.

Lancaster Girls Grammar School’s Aimee Hodgson and Annabel Collin, of Ripley St Thomas Academy, were in action as the Red Rose won the English Schools FA Inter-County Under 14s national final against Essex at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s stadium.

Despite going down 2-0 early on the girls battled back with Aimee scoring the winner in extra-time.

The final was the culmination of several rounds of competition with games as far apart as Durham and Buckinghamshire for the pair who havie been part of Blackburn Rovers’ Centre of Excellence for the last four years.
