With Morecambe having no match last weekend, The Visitor’s Morecambe FC reporter DEREK QUINN took the opportunity to look back at the season so far
AS we approach the busy Christmas period it seems a perfect time to take stock of the season so far.
Jim Bentley’s first season in charge has largely been a memorable one with a number of highlights and a new sense of direction that fans can’t have failed to notice.
The early rise to the top of the League 2 table was pretty remarkable and the performance to put six past a shell-shocked Crawley was one that ranks among the best since joining the Football League. It was a run that drew the attention of the national media with features in the Independent and the Guardian as well as TV features with the ever popular Clem from the BBC.
It wasn’t just the football that grabbed the headlines, the pies also came to the fore once again, as this week’s feature by the Hairy Bikers on TV showed, and the club can do little wrong at the moment.
Bentley’s appointment has brought a new zest to the club. His signings have been excellent.
