NEW Morecambe reserve team manager Stewart Drummond insists he still has a role to play on the field for the Shrimps.
The midfielder stepped into Jim Bentley’s shoes as player-coach when Bentley became the club’s new manager following the departure of Sammy McIlroy.
Drummond, who has signed a new one-year playing contract, told the fans’ forum: “I will follow the way Jim did when he made his tentative steps into coaching.
“I have got to start looking at the coaching side of things and I have had a lot of chats with Jim and I am excited about thinking about the future.
“I have been here 12 or 13 years and we have plenty of experience and knowledge of the club.
“I think our mix will work well and Ken McKenna will help us blend.
“I still think I have a part to play on the field as well.”
