Morecambe Ladies slipped a 5-3 defeat at Guiseley AFC Vixens on Sunday.

Without hotshot Megan Doherty and with Sammy Hindle forced into goalkeeping duty the Shrimps Ladies were under strength.

Both teams made fast starts but it was the hosts who took the lead seven minutes in, Tanya Rich getting in behind before firing past Hindle. Millie Brown levelled things up however with a fine equaliser on the quarter hour.

Guiseley were back in front two minutes later, Caroline Hulme racing through to score as the Morecambe defence pushed out for offside.

The Shrimps were level again soon after however, Brown’s volley was tipped onto the bar by Daniella Maslin with Hannah Williamson firing home after the rebound had only been half cleared.

Brown nearly put Morecambe in front for the first time when her lob went over before Guiseley went ahead again before the break with Rich getting her second.

The hosts took control early in the second period, Charlotte Blythe establishing a two-goal lead for the first time after a neat one-two with Rich before Hume added her second to make it 5-2.

The visitors did pull a consolation goal back through Hannah Paling but it proved too little, too late.
