Morecambe boss Jim Bentley is looking for the “feel good factor’’ to continue when Wimbledon visit the Globe Arena on Saturday.
The in-form Shrimps extended their unbeaten run to eight games with a 2-0 victory at Bury on Saturday which lifted them up to fourth in the table and maintained the form that has seen them become League 2’s surprise package this season.
Bentley is now looking for that form to continue on Saturday against a Wimbledon side who have gone three games without a win after a promising start to the season.
He said: “The run we are on is everything we could have hoped for and we are all really enjoying it.
“There is no doubt the run will come to an end at some stage but we hope it won’t be for a while yet.
“When you have the feel good factor that we have you have to make the most of it. Everyone is patting us on the back and the lads have been brilliant.
“Everyone at this club has a burning desire to win football matches and the players are showing that week in week out.
“The fans who went to Bury seem to have bought into it as well because they were magnificent and hopefully we can generate the same sort of belief at the Globe on Saturday.
“The atmosphere against Chesterfield was amazing and as I’ve said a few times, it makes a massive difference to us. We are still unbeaten at home in the league and that is that way we want it to stay.”
Wimbledon travel to the Globe without a win in three games after being early pace setters in League 2.
Neal Ardley’s side have improved this year after being relegation candidates last season and Bentley insists his side cannot get complacent.
He said: “Wimbledon are much improved this season and the manager seems to be making his mark now.
“The old adage in this league is that you have to be at your best in every game and that is what we will be reminding the lads this week.”
