Morecambe boss Jim Bentley says his side must become more ruthless in front of goal in the final stages of the season.
The Shrimps recorded another blank evening on Friday with their fifth goalless draw of the season against Cheltenham as they failed to score for the 10th time this campaign.
It is something that Bentley admits he is conscious of and was a major reason why he brought in former Preston striker Chris Holroyd until the end of the season last week.
He said: “Defensively we have been pretty sound this season and kept 11 clean sheets in all competitions which is good.
“But the lack of goals has been a bit of a worry and that is why we brought in Chris.
“He is a player with pace who likes to run at defenders and that is something we have probably lacked.
“We need to be more ruthless up front and make better decisions in the final third because I know we have the players to score more than they have done.
“On Monday we had a full session on finishing and forward play and it is something we are really going to focus on before we play Dagenham on Saturday.
“It is going to be a tough game because their home form is pretty good but we beat them a couple of weeks ago and can take confidence from that.
“If we can stay as solid as we have been at home I am sure we will be able to cause them some problems of our own and put them under pressure.”
