JIM Bentley says he is delighted to have been shortlisted for the League 2 Manager of the Month award.

The new Shrimps boss is in the running against Rotherham’s Andy Scott, Crawley’s Steve Evans and Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner after a superb start to his managerial career.

And he is hoping to cap an unusual double as he was awarded the League 2 Player of the Month award for August in the Shrimps’ first season in the Football League.

He said: “I am absolutely made up to have been shortlisted and it shows that we are doing something right and getting noticed.

“If I do get the award it is down to the players who have been absolutely magnificent so far. They have done everything we have asked of them and made a great start to the season.

“We have done well but the aim now is to maintain that run of form and make sure we are consistent and hopefully we can be shortlisted for more awards as the season goes on.”

The Shrimps boss is now gearing up for another big test this weekend when Crawley visit the Globe Arena in a top of the table clash.
