Jim Bentley is working hard to tie players he sees as the future of Morecambe Football Club down to new contracts.
The Football League loan window opens at midnight on Friday but the Morecambe boss’ main concern is securing players he wants to keep at the Globe Arena for next season and beyond.
Jack Redshaw, Andy Parrish and Kevin Ellison have already put pen to paper on new deals.
He said: “We had to make cutbacks so we’ve looked at non-league and younger players and I think we’ve got a nice group of young, up-and-coming players.
“There’s one or two who’ve been released from clubs higher up and one or two from non-league and we’re working hard trying to get some of them tied down.
“They’re the future. We like to think we’ve got a nice blend of the younger lads, some with more experience and then those who are 29, 30 and 31.
“But it’s important we try and get the younger lads tied down and hopefully they can all grow and improve together.”
Bentley was far less concerned with the loan window opening however having brought both Shaun Beeley and Jamie Devitt to the club in January.
He said: “We’ve got a couple of targets but financially we can’t do anything at the moment.
“We’ll have to wait and see but hopefully somewhere along the line I’ll win the Euro Millions!”
