Saturday’s game against Wycombe wasn’t exactly what you would call a classic and that’s probably being kind.
Given that the referee had twice tried to call the game off prior to kick-off, the pitch was always going to play a part in proceedings.
Thankfully he saw sense and gave it the go ahead due to some gentle persuasion from both camps.
I thought we actually started the game really well and after 20 minutes or so I could honestly only see one winner.
But as so often this season we gave ourselves a mountain to climb by yet again conceding the game’s first goal.
The more the game went on the worse the pitch became but we stuck at it and got our just rewards thanks to a great header from Big Kev (Ellison).
But with that big moon head there’s no way he could have missed!
It’s a game in my opinion, I’m sure most will agree, that was there for the taking.
But it’s a point in the right direction and definitely something to build on.
Thankfully we haven’t got a home game for two weeks now so the pitch will have some time to repair itself.
No doubt Chesh, John and their staff will be giving it some much-needed TLC over the coming fortnight to get it in the best possible shape for the visit of Portsmouth.
