Barry Roche column: There’s six cup finals to come

The feeling as I watched that ball sail into the top corner on Saturday is not a feeling I want to have again in a hurry.

We were all left sick in the stomach after coming away with nothing to show for our efforts.

It was a horrible game where we ground it out against another side battling for their league survival and it really had a draw written all over it until that header with no time left on the clock.

Neither team did enough to win the game but we should have seen it out and walked away with a hard-earned away point.

The journey home was a terrible one as I’m sure it was for all the travelling Shrimps fans who made the long journey to Bristol.

Earlier in the week we really had no complaints about the score line down in Chesterfield.

For me they are definitely the best side we have played this season and with that performance they justified their title as promotion favourites.

They made us defend for large periods of the game and but for one lapse in our concentration we defended superbly.

The way Chesterfield move the ball is excellent and they make the pitch seem even bigger than it is.

We huffed and puffed going forward but didn’t really do enough to trouble their rearguard.

We have six cup finals left to play starting with Saturday’s visit of Mansfield and we need to make sure we give absolutely everything we have got to ensure our league safety, preferably sooner rather than later.
