The gaffer asked us for a big, positive reaction after the Wycombe defeat and anyone who was at the game on Saturday will have seen we did just that.
Rotherham are flying high for a reason and they put us under an awful lot of pressure early on although some of it was self inflicted. But we held firm and knew going in scoreless at half-time would have The Millers, who desperately needed a win to keep up hopes of automatic promotion alive, very frustrated. And that proved to be the case. In recent weeks we have started second halves quite slowly but on Saturday we really took the game to them and deservedly took the lead through a great Robbie Threlfall free-kick. Robbie has had a very stop -start season due to injury but since he has forced his way back into the side he has been in tremendous form and he picked his spot around the side of the wall perfectly. Rotherham got themselves back into the game in rather fortuitous circumstances with a really lucky deflection although it looked like their boy was claiming he meant to get the little touch on the ball which I refuse to believe. There is no doubting that the sending off changed the game but we still had to take advantage of it. And who better to do that than the big bald eagle Kevin Ellison. It was an unbelievable header and couldn’t have come at a better time. His celebration was maybe a little over the top (and that’s being kind to him) but their fans were booing his every touch so who can really blame him. I had to laugh when he started swinging his shirt over his head but that’s just the way Kev is and we absolutely love him for it. He can be a real pain in the backside but he’s our pain in the backside and he brings so much to the club both on and off the pitch.
