THE end of last season saw something of a changing of the guard at Morecambe FC.

Jim Bentley took a back seat as manager of the reserves, Wayne Curtis left the club and the man who scored the last ever goal at Christie Park, Dave Artell, left with with the ground, joining Crewe Alexandra.

As the Shrimps looked to push on from their play-off semi-final defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge, optimism was high, but the season got off to a stuttering start with the club unable to move into their new £12m stadium as planned.

But Phil Jevons signed a permanent deal following his loan spell from Huddersfield and he was followed by another Huddersfield loanee and fellow striker, Jimmy Spencer.

Spencer has impressed, coming into the reckoning more and more, and will be a key player as the season draws to a close.
