MORECAMBE suffered their second defeat of the Easter period in this five goal thriller at the Pirelli Stadium.
Top scorer Kevin Ellison missed a great chance to bring the Shrimps level with a 92nd minute penalty after a Calvin Zola foul but his effort was superbly save by home keeper Ross Atkins as the Shrimps were left frustrated once again.
The penalty came just two minutes after the home side had taken the lead for the third time in the afternoon when Andy Parrish had fouled Zola on the edge of the area to gift the home side a free kick. Chris Palmer took full advantage to float an effort over the Morecambe wall to beat Barry Roche to his right hand side to give the Brewers a rare win.
The home side took the lead after just six minutes when Adam Bolder was allowed to cut inside from the left hand side and create space to curl a right foot effort past Barry Roche from 12 yards out.
The sides then exchanged chances with Calvin Zola denied a strike on goal by a superb covering tackle from Will Haining after a neat one two on the edge of the Morecambe box.
The Shrimps went close when Craig Curran nipped in front of his marker at the near post to flick an Izak Reid cross into the side netting before Burton doubled their advantage on 39 minutes.
The Brewers’ left back Aaron Webster scored his 100th Burton Albion goal with a finish from 12 yards after being found by Calvin Zola.
The Shrimps hit back two minutes into first half injury time with Jordan Burrow scoring his second goal for the Shrimps as he converted from close range after a well worked free kick was played back across goal by Jack Redshaw.
And the visitors maintained the pressure with an equaliser just three minutes after the restart. Izak Reid floated in an excellent free kick and half time substitute Danny Carlton ghosted in to evade his marker to head past Ross Atkins from 12 yards out.
Burton hit back with Justin Richards firing into the side netting before Morecambe youngster Jack Redshaw created and wasted a glorious chance when he missed the target from close range after a superb turn in the box.
The game looked to be heading for a draw until the final few minutes of drama ended with the home side taking a welcome three points.
