The former Skerton ABC fighter, now with Blackpool’s Sharpstyle ABC, won his 43kg final with a split decision victory over Bobby Frankham from The Ring Boxing Club in Southwark.

Mum Kelly said: “He’s so dedicated and committed.

“He wants to go on and box in the Commonwealth Games and the Olympics.”

The teenager, known as The Warrior, is the cousin of rising Morecambe professional Isaac Lowe who hopes to win his first major title by the end of 2015.

Birchall had boxed for Skerton ABC before it shut suddenly a few months ago.

He then moved onto his current club and over the last few weeks has travelled to the likes of Worcester, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester to win through the regional rounds and set up his big fight in Sheffield.

Becoming the number one fighter for his weight and age in the country means Birchall will now go onto fight for England in the Three Nations Championships against Wales and Scotland.

He first has a tournament in Hull this weekend and future events could see him travel to Ireland to compete.

Birchall would like to thank his trainers for all their support.
