This was the first time boxing was featured in the competition with Lancaster University’s Boxing Club supported by their coach Terry Mcloughlin from the Lancaster YMCA and head coach Chris Murphy from Coastal ABC in Morecambe.

The first bout was between Lancaster’s James Milton and York’s Sam Kirk with the visitor losing out via technical knockout in the second round.

Next up was Lancaster’s Dylan Cheema against Aron Dougherty who gained revenge for the city fighters with a split decision win after three hard rounds.

Lancaster then came out on the wrong side of a split decision as Rosen Manev lost out to Olly Farrar.

The visitors were then infuriated as they lost another close decision with York’s Daniel Aron getting the nod over Dan James.

Lancaster hit back in explosive fashion however with Joseph Hollinshead stopping Laurie Twine for York at the end of the first round.

Some of the Lancaster fighters will be back in action this Saturday, May 2, when Coastal ABC hosts a show at Lancaster & Morecambe College.
