SAMMY McIlroy was still hopeful this week that he will be able to bring in at least one new player before the end of the transfer window on August 31.
Winger Simon Wiles has remained at Christie Park for training while McIlroy has also been linked with Southport's Mark Duffy and Chester's Chris Holroyd.

But until the Shrimps can shed at least one player from their current squad, McIlroy is unabl
e to bring anyone in.

McIlroy said ahead of the trip to Nottingham Forest: "Simon Wiles is still training with us and he understands the situation I am in.
"There have been no developments either in or out. We just need to keep monitoring the situation.

"We have got to balance the books and there is no leeway on that."
The Shrimps have their first home game of the season on Saturday against Rotherham at Christie Park.

Rotherham started the season with a -17 points deduction due to their off-field financial problems but won their opening game, 1-0 against Lincoln City on Saturday.

And they followed that up with a penalty victory over Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Striker Reuben Reid has scored in both games so far and scored the winning spot-kick on Wednesday.

Rotherham were one of three teams who started the League Two season on negative points, alongside Bournemouth (-17) and Luton (-30).

The new family tickets at Christie Park will be available at the game with Rotherham on Saturday.

The ticket, which is available for all parts of the ground except the main stand seating area, costs just £25 for two adults and two youngsters aged 16 or under or £23 for the car wash terrace. Tickets have to be bought from the club shop prior to the game by 2.30pm.

Morecambe will find out who they meet in the first round of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy when the draw is made on Saturday.

The Shrimps failed to receive a bye and will face either Accrington, Crewe, Macclesfield, Oldham, Port Vale, Stockport or Tranmere when the draw is made Saturday on Sky Sports' Soccer AM.
