Taylor said he was disappointed with some of the comments made to players and the management at the Grimsby game and has asked for supporters to get behind the club.

He said: "I know some people are disappointed with the start we have made to this season but I think this might be time to take stock of where we are and where we have come from.

"I thought some of the personal abuse that was given to individuals on Saturday was particularly disappointing.

"I know emotions run high but I always think supporters should get behind their players if things are not going quite to plan.

"I am sure players will react better and perform better if they know people are behind them.

"At the end of the day, we have come a long way in a short space of time and we have currently gone four games unbeaten.

"We are a fledgling Football League club and everyone involved is learning all the time and things won't always go our way.

"There is however, no lack of desire or effort on anyone's part to make progress and we are sure that that is what we will do."

"Supporters of the club have a lot to be proud of. Everyone has played a part in its success and we want everyone to play a part in the club's future."

Ironically the comments to which Mr Taylor was referring came during a game before which the club received its award as winners of a national online survey to find the friendliest club in the country.
