A fundraiser for St John’s Hospice which took just nine weeks to organise raised £3,000.
Lisa Preston from Heysham, who lost her uncle Terry Docherty in February to cancer, decided to organise a quiz and auction night at Smokey O’Connor’s in Morecambe to raise as much money as possible for the hospice in Lancaster where Terry spent his last days.
She was overwhelmed by the response to the event, and bids for auction items surpassed her expectations.
She said: “It was a massive success and I’m so chuffed. A member of the team who won Terry’s trophy grew up on the same street as him in Heysham.
“Everyone has been saying it was an amazing event and that it should be a yearly event from now on.
“We got £200 for a Man Utd football, £180 for a Midland Spa day, £70 for a Liverpool tour and £255 for a signed Burnley shirt.I’m very very lucky to have very good friends and family
“It was a phenomenal success considering it was held in a little pub in Morecambe.”
