Debutant Marc Aboud was the first to cross for the Vale in the sixth minute and he added another try after the break as they stretched their lead.

Craig Orrick also scored before and after half-time, the second coming after a long 60-yard run that outstripped the visiting defence.

Neale Foster crossed in the second half as Oldham tired having put up a good fight in the first half, scoring a try right on half-time.
