MANY parts of the district were flooded on Monday after downpours described as the worst for two decades.

There was standing water on many roads, with some declared unpassable.

Fields throughout the district were turned into lakes as the drainage systems struggled to cope with the deluge.

Morecambe FC's Christie Park pitch was waterlogged causing the Black-burn Rovers versus Everton game to be called off.

Interestingly, another area severely flooded was the fields at Westgate to where the club is looking to relocate with a new stadium.

Trains between Lancaster and Preston were cancelled and drivers were being warned to take extra care on the roads because of the heavy rain.
Surface water caused problems on the motorways.

Insp Phil Cottam, Lancashire Constabulary's head of motorway policing, said: "When there is a lot of flooding on local roads it can be difficult to judge just how deep the water is, so if you can avoid driving through a huge puddle then please do."

What's your view on the use of CCTV?
More the merrier - if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to worry about
Only appropriate in certain crime-spot areas
I'd be very worried if we had too many
