A TRUCK parked on Low Road, Crook o' Lune somehow rolled and ended up hanging off the side of a bridge.
The 32 ton truck was left balancing above a grassy incline with its engine running from 3am on Thursday and was still stuck when commuters were heading to work in Lancaster, causing some traffic delays.

Lancashire County Council were dispatching a special crane to rescue the vehicle which was set to arrive at the scene at 4pm.

The truck, an underbridge inspection vehicle unit, was eventually lifted free of the bridge by a 31 tonne Ainscough crane from Newcastle.

The driver was uninjured and the bridge was reopened to traffic at 8.30am on Friday.

The Visitor understands the rescue operation cost in the region of £40,000.

Its illegal to leave a HGV un-attended with the keys in the ignition! I suppose our police were too busy warning kids on busses!

Precisely how many busses were children on at 3am!!! Try reading the story properly, or is it a typing error. It says the driver was uninjured, I presume then he was in the vehicle when it rolled, therefor it wasn't unattended! It could have been brake failure.

What's your view on the use of CCTV?
More the merrier - if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to worry about
Only appropriate in certain crime-spot areas
I'd be very worried if we had too many
