A MASSIVE fire ripped through a major caravan and motorhome outlet in Bolton-le-Sands on Friday morning, causing part of Slyne Road to be sealed off and residents to be told to stay indoors.

Six Lancashire Fire and Rescue crews were called out to Stewart Longton Caravans on the A6 after a fire gutted the main office building, causing part of it to collapse.

Police knocked on doors to keep residents informed as fire officers tackled the blaze, amid concerns over gas canisters stored inside the building.

Richard Edney, of Lancashire Fire and Rescue, said everyone on site had been accounted for and no-one was hurt.

Mr Edney also said the fire had not spread to any of the caravans and motorhomes.

The cause of the fire was not yet known.

Lancaster City Council sent two officers to the scene, including a representative from Environmental Health, as standard procedure.

By 3pm the A6 was re-opened and Mr Edney said the incident was under control.

What's your view on the use of CCTV?
More the merrier - if you've done nothing wrong, you've nothing to worry about
Only appropriate in certain crime-spot areas
I'd be very worried if we had too many
