Witness appeal as accident victim is named

POLICE have named a 23-year-old man who died after a crash in Hornby near Lancaster.

Samuel Lishman, from Ingleton, died when his Ford Focus collided with a Vauxhall Vivaro van at about 8.40am on Tuesday on the A683 Melling Road.

Mr Lishman was taken to Royal Lancaster Infirmary where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The male driver of the van was uninjured and didn’t attend hospital.

The road was closed for four hours to allow an accident investigation to take place.

Sergeant Mick Young said: “A full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the collision is now underway.

“I would appeal to anybody who may have witnessed it to contact police and I would also like to speak with anybody who may have seen either of these cars being driven prior to the collision.”
