A new vision for Morecambe is in the pipeline. GREG LAMBERT went along to a recent Morecambe Area Action Plan meeting to find out about this latest blueprint for the town’s future
MORECAMBE doesn’t work to its full potential because it lacks a true “heart”.
That’s the belief of a group of Lancaster City Council planners who are working with the public to develop a vision for the future of the town.
They say the central area of Morecambe is “disjointed” and lacks many of the services visitors would expect to find within a town centre.
And they are making it their mission to solve the problem – which they believe is key to the resort’s regeneration.
Recently the council held two public consultation events, the second of which was at The Platform on March 3. Around 40 residents were there including Marie Needham, manager of the Arndale Centre, David Ross-Clasper, owner of the Wimslow Hotel in Morecambe and Coun Ron Sands.
