Rapper Professor Green has come under fire for tweeting about stricken teenager Gaby Scanlon.

The star, best known for his number one hit ‘Read All About It’, was abusive to friends of the Heysham schoolgirl after they condemned his comments on the social networking site.

The row broke out after Green, real name Stephen Manderson, tweeted on Monday night: “girl had to have her stomach removed after a cocktail containing liquid nitrogen? nice”.

Green then mentioned the teen’s plight again in conversation with Kirk Norcross, former star of reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex.

He tweeted: “what did you do on sat ‘got my stomach removed’.

“Poor f*****g girl.”

Rachel White (@Rachewhitee) then tweeted: “happens to be someone i know whos had her stomach removed.

“Never mind making sick jokes you should be saying #getwellsoongaby...SOMEONE POUR LIQUID NITROGEN DOEN HIS THROAT SEE HOW HE LIKES IT!!”

Tom Charlson @TomCharlson tweeted: “‘poor f*****g girl’...how can you say that’s you being sympathetic? Disgrace.”

After others criticised Green, he called them “illiterate” and a “moronic group”, claiming his tweets had been “sympathetic” to Gaby.

Matthew Booth (@Boovboy) defended Green, tweeting: “People clearly didn’t read @professorgreen’s tweets properly. He was sympathising...awful business though...”

Later, Green tweeted: “You know what, I’m really sorry, really really sorry. For trying to explain myself like I even need bother.”

*HERE is a Twitter timeline of exactly what Green said. The Visitor has censored some of the tweets due to the extreme bad language used.

Professor Green ‏@professorgreen. Is everyone of this girls friends illiterate? I’m beginning to think so - all my tweets were sympathetic and in is disbelief a bar could serve a f*****g drink that could cause that

Professor Green @professorgreen

Anyone saying I made a joke is a f*****g d**k - read ALL of my tweets from then on and send your apologies

Professor Green ‏@professorgreen

My tweets are there to be read - i said nothing wrong unless taken out of context by little f******s such as the moronic group tweeting me.

Professor Green @professorgreen

Seriously if it wasnt for twitter I wouldn’t know or have anything to do with people this thick

Professor Green @professorgreen

You know what, I’m really sorry, really really sorry. For trying to explain myself like I even need bother. And breathe.
