ST JOHN’S Hospice in Lancaster celebrated its 25th anniversary with a royal visit.

Princess Alexandra returned to the hospice to commemorate the service which it has provided to the community over the past 25 years.

During her visit, the Queen’s cousin met the staff and volunteers who ensure the charity’s survival as well as some patients.

Among them was George McGregor, 54, of Morecambe, who said: “It was an absolutely brilliant day. Princess Alexandra is a nice woman but it’s all about the amazing staff here.”
