The Eric Morecambe statue has returned to its rightful home...or has it?
Passersby did a double-take on Saturday afternoon because a human version of the famous landmark had taken its place.
Paul Frith, a fan of the famous Morecambe-born comedian, covered himself from head to toe in black paint and is spending a few hours pretending to be the statue to raise money for charity.
The original statue is currently in storage after it was removed for repairs.
A man damaged ‘Eric’ last Saturday by sawing the statue’s leg in an attempt to steal it.
So one week on, plumber Paul decided to bring a little sunshine back to Morecambe with his light-hearted stunt.
Our content editor Greg Lambert spoke to ‘Eric’ in this exclusive video.
