The Shadow Chancellor donned a Bob the Builder hat and enjoyed a tea party during playtime with kids at a Morecambe nursery.

Ed Balls chatted with children, parents and staff on a visit to Sandcastles on Marine Road on Thursday afternoon.

The former Secretary of State for Schools came to town to talk about Labour’s plans to introduce 25 weeks of free child care should they gain power in the next election.

The Government currently offers 15 weeks a year.

Mr Balls was accompanied by Amina Lone, who will stand for Labour in Morecambe and Lunesdale in 2015.
