The shadow chancellor Ed Balls has pledged to give 25 hours free child care per week to working parents should Labour win the next election.

The former Secretary of State for Schools spoke about this and other issues whilst on a visit to Sandcastles Nursery in Morecambe.

Mr Balls was joined by Amina Lone, who will stand for Labour in Morecambe and Lunesdale in the 2015 election.

They spoke to parents and staff at the nursery about child care and making it more affordable.

As the MP for Morley in West Yorkshire, birthplace of the comedian Ernie Wise, Mr Balls also had an opinion on Ernie’s partner Eric Morecambe.
