The owners posted on the shop Facebook page that they had CCTV footage of the culprits and asked for them to pay for the damage and apologise.

The crime was reported to the police who were investigating.

“They ran behind the doctor’s surgery (after throwing the brick) and we saw them take their balaclavas off,” said Adam Holtham, shop owner.

“We think they were trying to break in.

“We gave them an ultimatum to apologise and they haven’t done that. The window will have to be replaced.

“The response on Facebook has been quite remarkable. We’d like to thank everyone for their support.”

A police spokesman said the incident happened between 3.30am and 4.30am on Saturday.

The police incident log number is 352 of October 8. Anyone with information should call police on 101.
