Two charged with robbery

A MAN and a teenager are to face trial for an attempted robbery at a Lancaster convenience store.

Ryan O Toole, 21, of Gladstone Way, Newton-le-Willows, Merseyside, has been charged with robbery, attempted robbery and possession of cannabis.

A 17-year-old boy from Liverpool, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with robbery and attempted robbery.

Both males appeared before Preston Magistrates Court on Saturday, March 17. The case has been sent for trial at Preston Crown Court on April 3.

The attempted robbery offence took place at 8.40pm on Saturday, February 4, when two masked men entered Lea’s Grocers on Coulston Road, Bowerham, Lancaster, demanding the till. When the shop assistant refused he was hit over the arm with a stick.

The two offenders left empty handed.

At 9.30pm on the same day a woman was working in Croston Wines off-licence, Croston Road, Garstang.

Two men entered armed with an iron bar. One offender reached over the counter and stole part of the till, which contained about £120.
