TV ASTRONOMER Brian Cox has backed plans for a new observatory in Williamson Park in memory of Overton’s “little scientist”.

The physicist, and host of BBC show Wonders of the Universe, thinks a centre for stargazing would be the perfect tribute to the late George Higginson.

Ten-year-old George, who was killed in a road accident in 2009 near his home in Overton, loved science and astronomy.

His father, Jonathan, has been raising money hoping to create an observatory in his son’s memory.
