Our MP is digging deep as he continues to push for a tunnel to be built under Morecambe Bay.
David Morris raised his idea for a 15-mile road tunnel linking Morecambe to Barrow with a Transport Minister during questions in the House of Commons.
John Hayes MP, in reply, quoted American poet Ezra Pound, saying: “What matters is not the idea a man holds, but the depth at which he holds it.
“Any man who advocates tunnelling at this scale certainly holds an idea at very great depth indeed.” He then invited Mr Morris to the Department of Transport for talks.
The MP has also asked for funding for a feasibility study. He says a tunnel would cut journey times, but a spokesman for the AA has dismissed the idea as “frightfully expensive and a huge engineering task”.
