The following summary of planned new and ongoing road improvements over the coming week is correct as of Friday 22 November but could be subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances. All our improvement work is carried out with the aim of causing as little disruption as possible.

A project is taking place to repair bridges carrying the M6 over local roads. The work involves routine concrete repairs and installing new safety barriers along the southbound carriageway just north of Junction 33. The work is due to be completed by Friday 20 December. Some full closures of the motorway carriageways will also be necessary, which will be publicised on the motorway in advance. Diversions will be in place when the road is closed, and the project is due to be completed by Sunday 22 December.
Lancashire County Council is also carrying out improvement work at the roundabout linking Junction 1 of the M55 with the A6 at Broughton to reduce delays at one of Preston’s worst congestion hotspots. The scheme will widen the junctions with the A6, add traffic controls to all junctions, and make it safer to use for pedestrians and cyclists by installing new crossings while retaining the existing subways. The work is expected to be completed by December, and diversions will be in place when roads are closed.
