Pressure mounts to change Morecambe motorway sign

SO just what is there to do in Morecambe?

According to this shockingly bad road sign welcoming visitors to the resort, the answer is...very little.

Now pressure is mountingon the powers-that-be to radically overhaul this terrible first impression for motorists heading into the town.

Frustrated campaigners and councillors have lobbied for up to 10 years to improve the brown sign just off junction 35 of the M6, which they claim puts off would-be tourists and costs the local economy millions.

They want to see more of our attractions advertised on the sign, such as the Eric Morecambe statue, the Midland Hotel, Morecambe FC and the Bay’s birdlife.

But neither Lancashire County Council nor the Government seem willing to take responsibility.
