New lane causes traffic pain

MOTORISTS say a new bus lane has created even more mayhem on the already-gridlocked Morecambe Road.

Lancashire County Council has created a new bus lane between Scale Hall and the junction of Penhryn Road, narrowing the road for traffic travelling from Morecambe to Lancaster.

The road now converges into just one lane for traffic near the Heysham bypass roundabout and there are concerns the bus lane is too narrow, increasing the risk of accidents.

“Why is that every time they change road layouts in Morecambe and Lancaster they make things worse?” said a motorist from Heysham, who wished to remain anonymous.

“I bet the people who make these decisions have never driven around here in their lives.”
