Morecambe lifeboat crew has been honoured for their bravery with a special award.
Morecambe Town Council presented a signed scroll and new sonar equipment to the crew at Morecambe Town Hall.
Councillor Susan Lomax, who proposed making the award, said: “They are a group of individuals who serve Morecambe and the bay, keeping it safe for all who live and visit here.
“It would seem especially appropriate in this 10th anniversary year of the tragedy of the Chinese cocklers, that the townspeople of Morecambe, recognise these selfless individuals for the voluntary work they do and how they risk their lives in order to rescue and save the life of a complete stranger.”
The ceremony was held on Thursday night prior to Morecambe Town Council’s meeting.
