When faced with a fierce fire or a person facing drowning - what would you do?

If you were Grant Wilson, a passing motorist who spotted a blazing car, youbravely rush out and attempt to quell the mini inferno regardless of your own safety.

Fearing an explosion and casualties, and aware of the fire’s proximity to the nearby petrol station, he and another driver fought the fire with an extinguisher, keeping it under control until the fire services arrived. Well done Grant.

Heroes of another kind swung into action over the weekend when a fisherman found himself trapped up to the knees in Morecambe’s perilous mud.

He may have been just 50m away from the prom but with fast tides it was a potentially life threatening situation. It took teamwork between the coastguard and fire service and other emergency services to ensure a happy outcome. (Story page four) Lets hear it for all our heroes.

This weekend Morecambe was taken over by zombies.

The hugely popular event saw the undead of all ages (if you see what I mean) shuffling around the streets of Morecambe looking frankly terrifying and complete with dripping blood and deathly stares.

It looks like great fun and they all take themselves very seriously - but then, they are zombies.
