A star of The Only Way is Essex and an England international cricketer are among the names to have been confirmed for Morecambe FC’s big charity tournament.
A Shrimps Legends XI, a Celebrity XI and a Shanghai Clever FC XI will take part in the event in aid of Prostate Cancer UK on Sunday, September 7, as the club launch their partnership with Shanghai businessman Yan Yanjie.
The celebrity side will include TOWIE’s Lewis Bloor and England one day bowler Jade Dernbach as well as former professionals Lee Sharpe, Kevin Gallagher, Matt Jansen, Ade Akinbiyi, Luther Blissett, Frank Sinclair and Lancaster City boss Darren Peacock.
Names confirmed for the Shrimps side include player-manager Jim Bentley, Paul Burns, Dave McKearney, Kenny Mayers, Andy Grimshaw, Ian Cain, Wayne Curtis, Paul Rushton and Danny Carlton with other members of the 1995 and 2007 promotion teams expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
The Shanghai XI will be led by Fan Zhiyi, the first Chinese National to play in the Premier League, and the former Crystal Palace man will player-manage a team made up of ex-professional players and internationals from China.
Ticket pricing for the day has been confirmed with three games of 30 minutes each way starting at 1pm, 3pm and 5pm.
Terrace tickets are £1 for children aged five to 13, £2 for juniors aged 14 to 18, £7 for concessions, students and over 65s, and £10 for adults.
To sit in the main Peter McGuigan stand costs £2 for children, £4 for juniors, £8 for concessions and £12 for adults.
There are also family tickets available.
All tickets are available from the Morecambe Football Club Shop during normal opening hours.
Limited parking will be available at the Globe Arena on the day with more at Westgate School.
All net proceeds raised on the day will be donated to Prostate Cancer UK.
