A ONCE-THRIVING weekly student night at a Morecambe nightclub will close its doors after 18 years tomorrow night (March 21).
The Carleton’s weekly Wednesday student night at one time attracted around 1,000 Lancaster University students through the doors of the promenade club.
But numbers hit an all-time low of “zero” last Wednesday, according to Carleton manager Stewart Aimson, forcing him to pull the plug.
Mr Aimson blamed increased competition from the university’s own Wednesday student night at the Sugar House club in Lancaster.
He said The Carleton would remain open for business as usual with a programme of live dates scheduled for the rest of 2012.
