Thousands to visit Morecambe promenade for Carnival

Thousands are expected to visit the promenade this weekend as Morecambe Carnival returns with a bang.

The stage is set for the popular two day event and the town is bound to be packed with reports of hotels and caravan parks booked to the brim.

From May 2-3 families, music lovers and tourists will cram their weekend with live performances, parades, games and competitions.

On Saturday from 11am onwards the carnival will host ‘It’s A Knockout.’

The team game show, at the Bay Arena on the Central Promenade, will see 18 teams battle it out.

From noon onwards there will be a sand castle competition to see who can build the most amazing one. Between 2.30pm and 3.30pm there will be dancing horses show on the beach (a dressage display).

From 4pm the RAF World War Two display featuring a Spitfire, Hurricane and a Dakota.

Emmerdale and Coronation Street fans are also in for a treat as Adam and Ryan Thomas (Adam Barton and Jason Grimshaw) will present competition prizes and be signing programmes throughout the day.

The programme signing will be at 11am in the Festival Market and 2pm in the Arndale Centre.
