FRIENDS and family of a much-loved Liverpool fan will set out on a pilgrimage to Anfield to raise funds for a Motor Neurone Disease (MND) charity.
They will take part in a sponsored bike ride from Morecambe’s Globe Arena to Liverpool’s ground in memory of the late Phil Wilson.
Phil died aged 53 in 2011 after suffering from MND.
The group includes Rob Clague, Pete Birkby, Mark Miller, Si Crossley, Dave Wilson, Steve Dewhurst and Dave Gardner.
Phil, who worked at Infinis on White Lund, had two passions in his life. Number one was his family, and two was watching Liverpool FC.
Back in 1977, Phil was among LFC supporters who set out from Liverpool Lime Street by train across Europe to watch the Reds win their first European Cup in Rome. The bike ride takes place on the weekend of March 23. So far more than £1,000 has been raised, just over half way towards a target of £2,000. The riders would like to thank GF Property Services, Infinis and Colin Brown hairdressers for their help.
You can donate online at www.justgiving.com/PhilWilsonMemorialBikeRide or call Rob on 07791941052 if you would like to sponsor the ride.
